We went to Reed and Ester's wedding on Wednesday and their reception on Thursday (the 25th and 26th). The ceremony was nice, but it made me wonder: why does the person performing the marriage always talk so slow when giving advice and then rush through the ceremony? I mean, I almost think they are two different people, slow and steady (don't want to break a denture), then, "oh no! my stocks are taking a beating! get out of here!"

We went to the coast over the weekend with the Stephensons. It was really nice to see them again as I think the last time we got together was on Easter. They rented a sweet beach house and we ate, played, ate, played, and then ate a little more (there's always room for dessert).

One of the highlights was playing hide-and-go-seek in the dark (as the house was huge). Now you might think this is kind of dorky, but try it! Rachel and I play everytime we've been to a condo and in all of our small apartments. The only problem we have is Ethan, as he will follow you around and point at you while you are trying to hide. 

The kids needed to bury all of their treasures so that we could find them next time. I think it was Faith that said we needed to mark it with a "Y" so that people wouldn't know it was treasure. 

We are waiting for the waves to get our towers.

On Valentine's day we made some breakfast together, it was a lot of fun, except that we were all sick. 

Yesterday we discovered that we are all sick. Ethan has been sick for a few days now and I really feel sorry for the guy, and now Rachel and I, and probably Jacob (he only has a little cough, now), are in for it. I got up for my 9 am class, but after looking at my self in the mirror, skipped to get a little extra sleep. Then I skipped my 10 am, then 11 am, then 12 pm. I skip a lot of classes, but never for sleep! The worst part was that I still had to go to campus to meet with people at 1, 2:45, and 5.

Today was Frank's baptism.  I don't know what the deal is, but the last few weeks of church meetings have been really great. This includes the baptism; Bishop Luke and Gary both delivered excellent remarks on baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost. Frank also made some humble and inspiring comments at the end of the meeting. 

 

Today Rachel, Jacob and I tried to spend $45 at the mall (thanks to a gift from a certain friend in Bend). We failed. You would think that it wouldn't be that hard, right? We started out in a pet store (just window shopping of course), Jacob really liked the bunnies. Then we ventured into some kind of a dvd store. They had some t.v. series that we thought about getting (the Walton's season 7, and MacGyver season 1), but they were both about $30 so we went for a 3 for $10 and got Batman Returns, The little mask (or something like that, a kid's version of The Mask), and Anacondas.

So $10 down we went to the toy store. We searched and searched but found nothing that appealed to us. So we moved on to a Game store, but all of the ones I wanted were $50, probably had more blood and guts that I'm allowed, and would run slow on our computer. So we tried a book store and wandered and wandered and wandered. I even considered letting Rachel buy something at Victoria Secret (she used to always get lotion, but yes, I've forced her to join my boycott).

Cinnabon anyone? oh yes, we have this coupon that we got the last time we indulged, that let us buy a package of 4 or 6, and get another package of the same size for free! Since it was only a couple of dollars for the two extra rolls, we went with 12 for $13. Then this Asian restaurant was giving out free samples, which Rachel really liked, so we sunk $5.50 into a teriyaki bowl (which was pretty good).

Then, since it is Friday, our date night, we came home, ate teriyaki chicken and a Cinnabon while watching The Day After Tomorrow (a $4 treasure that we got the week earlier). All in all it was a good night, except that we still need to burn a few dollars (is that a problem?).

I spent the day (after doing some math homework) making blocks and then stacking them. It was a long process, but it was a lot of fun after the blocks weren't solid black on a black background. I know, welcome to graphics in the 80's.
